The Barista plays a key role in our energetic team of food and beverage enthusiasts who are driven to provide excellent customer service. You’ll have the opportunity to be part of a fun atmosphere where both customers and employees have a great experience that’s welcoming and engaging.
Duties
A Barista’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Make and serve specialty coffee/espresso and tea
- Speak and interact with both new and regular customers
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work station
- Follow health and safety guidelines
- Adhere to recipes and presentations for food and beverage items
- Contribute to a positive team environment
- Providing premier customer service
- Accepting payment and providing change when appropriate
- Handling cash and other tenders accurately
- Must have an attention to detail
- Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Assisting in other duties, as assigned
- Clean service or seating area
- Serve prepared foods, such as Panini, pastries, salads etc.
- Set up or restock product displays/coolers
Qualifications
Required: The required qualifications are as follows:
- 16 years of age or older
- able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
- able to read, write and perform simple math problems
- able to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems
- at least 1+ year in the coffee service industry
- Detailed-oriented and passionate about product quality
- Able to use an espresso machine
Preferred: The preferred qualifications are as follows:
- food preparation experience
- able to work well with others as a team member
- previous experience an asset
- a passion for serving people
- Product knowledge on espresso coffee
Work Conditions
A Barista’s duties are performed primarily in the Café. Work includes walking, standing for prolonged periods, and making specialty drinks. Duties also include frequent interaction with customers and associates.
